Vauxhall have launched a VXR-look Corsa Limited Edition – the Vauxhall Corsa Black & White. No more go, but more toys and a bodykit. Starts at £13,995.
We know that Limited Edition cars shift metal in quiet times. What other reason could there be for manufacturers seemingly giving away options on a Limited Edition car? So if you want the options that are being thrown in the deal – and would have ordered them up if you specced a standard car – then it’s a good deal.
There’s also the residuals to take in to account. When it comes to shifting your pride and joy after a year or three the extra cachet of that Limited Edition badge and the extra toys will bring you a few bob more, and make it easier to shift.
So everyone wins. But we sort of expect the car maker to be at least original when they punt out a Limited Edition. But then again, if it works once why not give it a different name and punt it out again? In fact, if you’re Toyota, you can give it the same name and punt it out again 12 months later – check out the Toyota Aygo Black.
At least with this Vauxhall Corsa Black & White, Vauxhall have given it a different name and shoved it on a different model. But it’s uncannily similar to the Vauxhall Astra VXR Artic we got last month.
Does it have white paintwork with a black roof. Yep. What about Black alloys? Oh, yes. The Corsa Black & White even gets a VXR bodykit to emulate even better its big brother.
Sadly it’s all show and no go. The choice is the 85PS 1.2 16v VVT petrol or the 75PS 1.3 CDTi ecoFLEX, with fuel consumption of 53.3 and 65.7mpg respectively. All very good, but hardly what you’d expect from something that looks as if it should perform.
Oh, well, at least the price is reasonable. From £13,995 for the 3-door 1.2 16v to £15,400 for the 5-door ecoFLEX diesel. But only for the rest of this year, and then the Corsa Black and White gets binned.
Although it could be back next year. If it sells.

i got a appointment on sunday 16th to have a look at one they look so nice as soon as i saw one on the podium i new straight away that will do so hopefully if i can get everything sorted i shall be driving one by next week not bad on price some advise tho i work in the motor trade done so for 5 years fully skilled and a lot of our fleet companys own combos etc which are have the d the 1.3 diesel engine, they do have a few problems they suffer with diesel and oil mixing and egr valve blocks up off carbon which will cause a lack of power and damage if not sorted straight away, it should be covered by warranty so if you do/have got a diesel make sure you keep up the reqiurements for the warranty becuae to have that all sorted its a lot of cash but i will say the corsa overall is a very good tidy and all round car

I bought a b&w corsa for my 22yr old daughter, and she loves it. ok it has only the 1.2 engine but it is fast enough for a young woman and it is easy to insure, so all in all you get the looks and the toys and it is easy on the pocket

im sure they have the 1.3 cdti is that the disel version or what ?

I just bought this car today, I did want the vxr but sadly, being 19 the insurance was pretty much unaffordable seeing as I don’t have mummy and daddy to sponge off. So for me this car looks the part, and won’t break the bank.

What Is The Performance Like ? its a shame they only do it in a 1.2 , would have preferd the 1.4 …

I bought the 1.3 diesel engine, the performance figures and very wrong for this car. I test drove the 1.2 and you have to have your foot to the floor to get it to go anywhere, once the turbo kicks in on the diesel it soon gets going, especially in second gear. And the £20 a year road tax is amazing, also the economy is second to none, i’ve done over 200 miles in mine now and not even used anywhere near half a tank.
