The Volkswagen Grand California Camper Van has been revealed as Volkswagen deliver a super-sized version of its California Camper.
By American standards the new Volkswagen Grand California Camper Van is a minnow, but by UK standards it’s a big camper for proper family adventures.
Based on the medium wheelbase Crafter, it’s almost six metres long and it’s high enough for almost anyone to stand upright inside.
The interior is bright and white, pop-open camper windows at the back and sides, big skylights above the double bed and in the living area and flyscreens for the windows (good for Scotland).
There’s a spacious kitchen and bathroom, a connection at the back for an external shower, electric step, double bench seat up front and double bench in the living area, dining table for four, pull-out fridge freezer, twin-hob gas cooker, sink and pull-out storage.
Options include bunk beds for children, roof mounted Air Con, awning, bike rack, solar panels, satellite dish and extra heating.
Now it’s 2018, the Grand California also gets plenty of safety stuff like Front Assist, City Emergency Braking, Lane assist, Blind Spot, Rear Traffic, Park Assists, Adaptive Cruise and reversing camera.
Due to be revealed at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf later this month, the Grand California will be available in single or two-tone paint jobs and is expected to get 4MOTION 4WD as an option and be powered by a 2.0 litre diesel.
