The Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace SUV has been revealed at the 20-17 Detroit Motor Show as a stretched seven-seat Tiguan. Arrives UK late 2017.
What the Tiguan Allspace is is a new model for the UK and Europe, and the only version of the Tiguan North America will get. Confused?
It seems VW thinks the Tiguan we get is too small for the North America market, but seem to believe putting a couple of extra seats in the back after stretching the wheelbase by 4″ will make all the difference. But that seems unlikely.
Having added a total of 8″ to the overall length of the Tiguan to create a new Tiguan for North America, VW will be offering it for sale in the UK and Europe as the Tiguan Allspace, but at that size we doubt the back seats will take much more than four-year olds.
There’s also the odd cosmetic tweak to the Allspace to mark it out, but in just about every other way it’s the same as the regular Tiguan.
Expect the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace to hit VW’s UK dealers by the end of the year, with prices likely to be £2-3k more than the normal Tiguan.
