Despite now being moer than six years old, the current Volvo V40 is still the safest used car you can buy in the UK, according to Co-op Insurance.
We all know Volvo’s are safe cars, and even now – perhaps particularly now – they’re cool and far more desirable, they’re still very safe.
We’ve seen both the current XC90 and latest XC60 score better than anything else in Euro NCAP tests, and every new Volvo comes with a suite of safety stuff which helps Volvo head towards the aim of no fatalities in a Volvo by 2020 (well, short of a meteorite strike or nuclear war – and we’re not sure about failure even then).
But it’s not just Volvo’s latest SUVs which are as safe as houses, so is the now six-year old Volvo V40, yet it is still picking up gongs for its safety performance.
In 2016 and 2o17, the Volvo V40 with Safety Pack was declared the safest used car buy in the UK, and now it’s back for a hat trick of awards as it is once again the Co-op’s safest used car winner for 2018. And deservedly so.
But it’s nor real surprised, even with all candidates for the award having to have a five star Euro NCAP rating, as the V40 was the safest car Euro NCAP had ever tested when it launched in 2012, and with the Safety Pack fitted it comes with pedestrian and cycle detection, AEB, Adaptive Cruise, lane keep warning and blind spot warning.
Nick Ansley, Co-op Insurance boss, said:
We wanted to create a clear list of the Top 10 Safest Used Cars for Families to enable families to make informed decisions when it comes to buying a used car. We’re pleased that the Volvo V40 with the safety pack has topped the list once again, for the third year running, providing an affordable choice that will keep families safe.
No surprise the V40 is still selling well – new and used.
