The Volvo V90 Cross Country Volvo Ocean Race is a limited edition V90 Cross Country celebrating Volvo’s Ocean Race and aiding ocean health.
If, as a car maker, you’re going to have a special edition of a car, you might as well use it to promote not just the car but an event you sponsor too. And, for good measure, you can throw in a good cause for added gloss.
That’s what the Volvo V90 Cross Country Volvo Ocean Race Limited Edition is all about, to celebrate the Volvo Ocean Race and to bung a few bob in the direction of the Volvo Ocean Race’s Science Programme to better understand the health of oceans. And flog a few more V90 Cross Countrys too.
Demonstrating all the things that make the V90 Cross Country the pick of the 90 Series saloon and estate range, the V90 Ocean Race also sports some titivation, as well as contributing €100 to the ocean research for each one sold (well, for the first 3,000).
Developed by the team which has done stuff like the Excellence models, the V90 Ocean Race gets a Crystal White paint job, Matt Grey and Bright Orange details – first seen on the Concept XC Coupe a few years ago – special wheels and stitching.
Volvo say the mats in the V90 Ocean Race will even help marine pollution as they’re made from recycled nylon (look out for static), partly made from nylon from fishing old nets, and has special features including a detachable torch, extra power outlets and smart, dirt-resistant materials.
Volvo hasn’t actually worked out when the V90 Ocean Race will go on sale in the UK, and nor how much it will cost, but promise details at some point.
