Which sounds better? Jaguar F-Type V8 or V6?

Jaguar continues to keep interest in the new F-Type piqued with video comparing the sound of the V6 and V8 F-Type.

It’s a fair bet that between now and when the new Jaguar F-Type actually starts to arrive in showrooms in 2013 we’re going to get plenty of marketing ploys to keep potential punters interested.

The latest Jaguar marketing magic comes courtesy of a short video with a pair of F-Types pulling away and accelerating hard; one a V6 supercharged and the other a V8 supercharged.

We don’t know whether the V6 is the 340PS base F-Type or the 380PS F-Type S, but it makes a fine noise. The gear changes from Jaguar’s 8-speed ‘box are more slurred than those you’d hear from a double clutch box, but there’s a rising crescendo of aural delight as the F-Type pushes in to view.

The V8 S has the same slurred gear changes, but the roar is distinctly more V8 and comes from a deeper and darker place; not quite the roar of Thor, but a growing rumble that sounds as if you’d feel it as much as hear it.

So, whichever engine choice you make for your F-Type, it will come complete with an appealing level of aural delight.

But we’d take the V8.
