Volkswagen Rock Up! & Groove Up! launch

Volkswagen has revealed a pair of Up! special models – the VW Groove Up! and Rock Up! – both with cosmetic tweaks and extra equipment and VW’s 1.0 litre 3-cylinder engine.

It’s already getting on for two years since the VW Up! arrived as Volkswagen’s main weapon in the city car market, so it’s well overdue for a special edition model to keep interest in the appealing little Up! high, and add some footfall to Volkswagen’s newly refurbished UK showrooms.

Volkswagen has actually revealed a pair of (daftly named) special editions – the VW Rock Up! and Groove Up! – to get buyers’ appetites piqued, both with some cosmetic tweaks and added equipment.

The VW Rock Up! (pictured above) gets a grey stripe running right the way from the bonnet to the boot and a gloss black bodykit, 16″ alloys and spoiler, with the interior getting heated seats, a touchscreen SatNav and AirCon. Available only as a 3-door, the Rock Up! costs from £12,980 and gets the 74bhp version of VW’s 3-cylinder 1.0 litre engine.

The VW Groove Up! (which VW hasn’t managed to photograph yet) gets fewer exterior cosmetic tweaks then the Rock Up!, with 16″ alloys, gloss black mirrors, but it does come with a six-speaker Fender sound system and touchscreen SatNav. Unlike the Rock Up!, the Groove Up! can be had in 5-door as well as 3-door guises, with the 3-door costing from £11,640 and the 5-door £12,015. Both versions also get the 1.0 litre 74bhp engine.

Bothe the Rock Up! and Groove Up! are now available to order in the UK with first deliveries scheduled for July.
