The Ferrari-engined 850bhp Apollo IE Hypercar teased
We have a new tease photo of the new Apollo IE V12 Hypercar, and the first information on specs with a Ferrari V12, 850bhp and €2 million each.
Gumpert Apollo made extreme supercars, but it’s successor – Apollo Automobil – is going further with a proper track Hypercar – the Apollo IE.Teased this week on Apollo Automobil’s website, all we got to see was a very gloomy back end shot. But now we have a slightly more revealing photo of the new Apollo IE (above) designed, no doubt, to tease its aero.
It seems Apollo are planning on building a small number (just 10) of the Apollo IE, and it is intended to be a track only car and an evolution of the Apollo Arrow Concept (below) we saw recently.
Very much in the mould of cars like the Mclaren P1 GTR and Ferrari FXX K, the Apollo comes with a naturally aspirated Ferrari V12 with around 850bhp. Which probably means the LaFerrari engine sans the electrical gubbins, plus a bit of fettling.
With extensive use of carbon fibre – and advanced aerodynamics – the Apollo IE looks to be hugely appealing, and with Apollo only planning to build a small number the price of around €2 million should be little obstacle to sales.
Apollo will be revealing the IE (and its full name) this month at a private viewing to coax the well-heeled to spend at least €2 million – and be on a promise.
The promise is that Apollo will build road-legal IEs before the end of 2018 – in addition to this run of 10 track-only cars – and those who buy the track version will be able to buy the road-legal version first.
Further details will be available once Apollo officially reveal the IE
