The Citroen DS3 has been named #6 on Stuff Magazine’s ‘Cool List for 2010, along with such coolness as the iPad and Dyson’s bladeless fan.
The coolest car in the world, eh? That’s quite some statement to make about a badge-engineered, mass-produced small hatch. And although we can’t say we agree with the conclusion, we can certainly see why the statement was made.
Stuff Magazine – which is the world’s best selling gadget magazine – has done one of those ‘Best of’ lists so beloved by magazines (and websites, to be fair). This one is the ‘Cool List’ for 2010 of fifteen ‘Ground Breaking Modern Classics’.
The ‘Cool List’ includes such things as the iPad, Dyson’s bladeless fan and the Hipstamatic iPhone app. But it also includes a car – the Citroen DS3.
The DS3 has got it’s market almost bang on. The customisation options are great and the marketing has been inspired (with one exception – the appalling anti-retro ads with Lennon and Monroe) and the DS still benefits from a lack of ubiquity – something that relegated the MINI to passe rather than icon some time ago.
Not the greatest accolade ever heaped on a car, but it will do the DS3 no harm at all with its target market to be lumped in a ‘Cool List’ with all things ‘i’-something.
