Hyundai is making a real name for itself, not just with a very good range of cars, but also with the way it is capitalising on the Scrappage Schemes in the UK and Europe and the Cash for Clunkers Programme in the US. Hyundai has come out top of the Scrappage Scheme sales in the UK and much of Europe and, if its latest marketing ploy is anything to go by, are going to do the same in the US by launching the Hyundai Assurance Gas Lock.
Hyundai is guaranteeing a years supply of gas/petrol for all buyers of its cars between July 1st and August 31st at just $1.49 per gallon. Which considering gas in the States is currently at around $2.50 per gallon is a good deal in itself. But, according to a recent poll in the States up to 40% of car buyers are putting off buying cars because they’re worried gas prices will ‘Shoot Up’ to the insane price of $4 a gallon recently seen in the States (you poor things – try buying fuel in Europe!). So Hyundai reckons this will have an impact.
But the offer isn’t unlimited. It’s guaranteed for 12,000 miles which, assuming they are subsidising $1 a gallon means – at an average of 30mpg – they are only actually giving away $400. Even if gas does go up to $4, they will still be only giving away $1,000. But the psychological impact on buyers will probably make the offer seem much better than it really is.
At this rate Hyundai are going to take over the car world!
