A photo released by Audi with the announcement that Wolfgang Egger is the new Head of Audi Brand Design seems to show the 2013 Audi TT.
It’s not all that unusual for a picture revealed by a car maker to have a hidden Easter Egg; something that’s only there if you look hard. And the guys over at Audi News Blog think they may have found a hidden gem in a photo Audi has released of Wolfgang Egger – the new 2013 Audi TT lurking in the background.
Egger has just been announced as the new Head of Audi Brand Design, responsible for the design of Audi and Lamborghini design and all products bearing the Audi logo. Egger has been Head of Audi Group Design since 2007, and in that capacity he’s on record as commenting that the 2013 Audi TT will ‘..be another TT’. In other words, Egger sees the next TT as an evolution, not a revolution.
Egger did say that the new TT would be a bit more aggressive than the current TT (not a bad thing), and perhaps this is Audi’s way of leaking a tiny taste of what’s to come from the new TT?
What we can see over Egger’s shoulder is certainly TT-like, but different enough from the current TT to be considered a candidate for the 2013 TT. Although clearly a mock-up, the TT image certainly appears to have more prominent lower grills than the current TT, and not a million miles away from the front of the 2nd generation Audi R8 e-Tron we saw at Frankfurt this year.
Interesting, if highly speculative.
