Lamborghini Veneno Roadster on the way

It appears that Lamborghini are planning a run of open- top Venenos – the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster – apparently limited to 9 editions.

We weren’t overly impressed with Lamborghini’s cynical production of the limited run Veneno, a car based on the Aventador but with dramatic styling, a bit more power and a ridiculous price tag – over £3 million.

Of course, it filled a purpose for Lamborghini by putting big lumps of cash in the bank for little effort and it managed to take just a little bit of the new supercar spotlight from the McLaren P1 and LaFerrari at Geneva.

But in truth, all it did was shine a light on Lamborghini’s cynicism.

Now, it seems, Lamborghini are looking to cash in again with another Veneno project and this time it’s going to be the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster, which will be built in a run of 9 cars at a similarly stupid price tag.

We’ve spoken to a couple of very high end Lamborghini customers this morning who’ve been contacted this week by a Lamborghini dealer asking if they’d be interested in a Veneno Roadster.

So either Lamborghini are already committed to a run of Veneno Roadsters or they’re seriously canvassing opinion from wealthy customers they know might bite.

Whichever it is, the Lamborghini Reventon Roadster is very much in the frame for production.
