The recently facelifted Renault Captur can now be ordered with Renault’s EDC dual-clutch gearbox on the 1.5 litre dCi 90. Costs from £20,125.
The Renault Captur – Renault’s very successful compact SUV – had a bit of a refresh earlier this year to keep the now four-year old model looking fresh and up to date.
The facelift was the usual stuff, with interior and exterior updates and new standard equipment across the range including Air Con, DAB, Emergency Brake Assist, R&GO and 16″ alloys.
It was a sensible update for a car which sold more than 200k units in 2016, also adding a new Signature S Nav model with lots of toys in the price for those who aren’t really counting the cost.
Now Renault has decided that what buyers really want – what they really, really want – is to spec up their new Captur with the 1.5 litre 89bhp diesel engine complete with their EDC dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
So equipped, the Captur takes a rather modest 13.8 seconds to get to 62mph and delivers official economy of 72.4mpg and emissions of 101g/km.
If you’re sure an EDC auto in an 89bhp diesel SUV is what you want, it will costs £20,125 for the Dynamique Nav, £21,675 for the Dynamique S, £23,294 for the Signature X Nav and £24,004 for the Signature S Nav.
Renault’s UK dealers are now taking orders for the Captur 1.5 EDC, with first customer cars arriving by the end of the month.
