Levy & Co. Solicitors are able to provide advice in respect of all aspects of speeding offences. Our team have years of experience in challenging alleged speeding offences in appropriate cases and in some scenarios offences are discontinued or withdrawn before the matter reaches trial.
Even upon a person pleading guilty, Levy & Co. Solicitors are able to provide full representation at the sentencing hearing. This can often make the difference between the driver keeping or losing their licence.
DRIVING WITHOUT INSURANCE
You are required to have a minimum level of insurance cover for any vehicle. This means that a minimum of third party insurance must be in place for all vehicles used on public roads. The penalties for driving without insurance are between 6 and 8 penalty points and a means-tested fine of up to £5000. Sometimes, if you have been convicted of Driving without Insurance previously, you can be disqualified (however, see section entitled “Special Reasons for not Disqualifying”).
EXCESS ALCOHOL / FAILING TO PROVIDE A SAMPLE OF BREATH
Should you be arrested and charged for driving with excess alcohol Levy and Co. Solicitors can advise you on all aspects of the investigation and the Court proceedings. Many people do not appreciate that there is a set procedure that must be followed by the police in the police station prior to charge, and if they do not abide by this procedure the case can be challenged.
MOBILE TELEPHONE OFFENCES
Levy and Co Solicitors can help you defend if you have been stopped by the police for this. We have a proven track record of successfully defending Clients and can collect evidence from mobile telephone companies and other witnesses in order to defend such an allegation.
NEW DRIVERS
New Drivers are people who have passed their test within the previous 2 years. Many people think that if, during this period, they receive 6 penalty points they fall to be disqualified. However, this is not entirely correct.
If 6 penalty points are reached during that 2 year period then the court in fact have no power to disqualify you. Instead, the court has a duty to notify the DVLA who will then usually revoke (or take away) your licence, meaning that you revert to the status of a provisional (or learner) driver.
Imposing penalty points, which could then result in you being reported to the DVLA is not the only option available to the court. There are other measures available that could result in you losing your licence albeit for a much shorter period of time. Please contact Levy & Co. Solicitors in respect of this matter who will advise you further.
