The Skoda Karoq Velo is revealed as a Skoda Karoq concept designed with cyclists in mind, including built-in washing machine and pressure washer.
There are probably lots of little gizmos and gadgets we’d like our cars to have, but we’re not entirely sure many car buyers have dreamt of a car with a built-in washing machine.
Despite most of us thinking the best place to wash out clothes is at home, Skoda reckon it’s exactly what the avid cyclist wants, so they’ve built a Karoq concept – the Karoq Velo – with its own laundry facilities.
The Velo concept was conceived after a survey of 1,500 cyclists who were asked to name the biggest downsides of their passion, two of which were travelling home in damp cycling gear after a trip out, and muddy bikes.
So instead of giving the Velo a big plastic container to store clean clothes on the way out to play, and damp muddy clothes on the way back, Skoda has fitted the Velo with its own washing machine. Which may come under the heading of over-thinking a solution.
Skoda has also fitted a pressure washer for hosing down muddy bikes – which seems entirely sensible – as does the fitting of a bike rack on the roof for two bikes and one on the tailgate for a further bike.
They’ve also fitted a set of LED lights to the boot and space for a full tool kit to make running repairs to bikes a bit easier, even at night.
Unlike the dog-friendly cars we’ve seen recently – like the Nissan X-Trail Paw Pack and Jaguar’s dog-friendly pack – we really can’t see a Karoq with a washing machine making showrooms any time soon.
