Nissan has been busy teasing the 2014 Nissan Qashqai for the last week or two, but now it’s revealed.
A bit bigger all-round than the first Qashqia, the new Qashqai looks sportier than before with its slightly lower stance and a reworked front with the new Nissan grill, wraparound headlights and clamshell bonnet whilst the back end gets a rework and some new boomerang lights.
Bigger changes come in the interior which gets a complete new look (well, for the Qashsqai – it looks rather like the X-Trail’s) with Alcantara and leather on offer at the top end, much better plastics and more room for both passengers an luggage, with a dual-floor system.
The engine range for the new Qashqai consists of a 1.2 litre petrol offering 50.4mpg, a 1.6 DIG-T with 148bhp and 50.4mpg (although that won’t arrive until summer 2014), a 108bhp 1.5 litre dCi turbodiesel with 74.3mpg and a 128bhp 1.6-litre dCi turbodiesel with 64.2mpg.
The regular drivetrain is FWD, but the 1.6 dCi will be offered with 4WD and a mult-link rear suspension, with a six-speed manual as standard and a CVT ‘box offered on the 1.6 dCi and a new chassis control system and active ride control.
All round a better looking, higher quality, better equipped and all together more convincing Nissan Qashqai.
The new Nissan Qashqai goes on sale in the UK in February 2014.
