It’s rapidly becoming the rage amongst car makers to turn out futuristic – and fanciful – concept cars bound for Sony’s Playstation.
Interestingly, although these Gran Turismo concepts are aimed squarely at the virtual world, there are more than a few hints that they could make production reality in one form or another.
The Mercedes AMG Vision Gran Turismo is rumoured to be a short-run plan of just five cars – at doubtless silly prices – for Mercedes, and the Toyota FT-1 does look like it previews a new Toyota Supra. But maybe both are wishful thinking.
But the same applies to Nissan’s Concept 2020 Vision, a project created by Nissan’s design team in London with input from engineers in Japan, which it’s rumoured could be a clear indication of where a future Nissan GT-R is heading, albeit a generation or two in the future.
Nissan hasn’t given any indication of what would power the Concept 2020 in the real world, but if it is to turn in to a future generation GT-R it would doubtless come with a tweaked version of the ridiculously competent 3.8 litre twin-turbo V6 from the current GT-R.
The Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo will be available to download for Gran Turismo 6 in July 2014.
