Top Gear Series 22 is almost upon us, and the BBC has released the first trailer for the new series showing the Stig on holiday with a Lamborghini Aventador.

The Top Gear Christmas Special to Patagonia (and the argy-bargy with the Argies) has just aired over Christmas, and now Top Gear is building up to a new series with the first trailer for Series 22.
So we get The Stig hiring a yellow Lamborghini Aventador and taking it around the world, and returning it before he goes back to work in less than pristine condition. But that’s what a rental car’s for.
The one glimpse we get of the action to come is a Jaguar F-Type R Coupe going sideways on the Top Gear track, but apart from that there’s no news of what the boys will b e playing with in the new series.
But we do know from various sightings in recent months some of what the Top Gear team will be playing with in the new series.
James has been spotted testing the Porsche 911 Turbo S at Dunsfold, and Jeremy was spotted playing with the BMW i8 in Yorkshire and been out and about in a new Corvette Stingray.
The trio also seem to be doing some sort of Antiques Road Trip in the Cotswolds with Peugeot 304, MGB GT and Fiat 124, there’s a piece with Jaguar E-Types from Eagle, Richard Hammond goes wing-walking on a bi-plane, there’s a trio of home-made ambulances, racing in St Petersburg (with an EV, a boat and a bicycle), a Bentley Continental, Nissan GTR and BMW M6 in Darwin Australia and outrageous American SUVs in Vancouver.
But the biggest outing looks to be a planned head-t0-head between the McLaren P1, LaFerrari and Porsche 918 with a shoot-out on the Dunsfold track the culmination.
The BBC hasn’t given a date for the start of Top Gear Series 22 yet, but it seems likely it will kick-off on the last Sunday of January 2015.
