VLF Force 1 revealed – a Dodge Viper in new clothes with a supercar price tag

The VLF Force 1 has been revealed at the Detroit Motor Show by VLF Automotive as a Dodge Viper with new clothes and 745bhp.

Henrik Fisker, Bob Lutz and racing driver Ben Keating have teamed up as VLF Automotive to create an all-American supercar, and this is it – the VLF Force 1.

Under the skin is a Dodge Viper, but the new skin, designed by Henrik Fisker, works hard to hide its roots with a carbon fibre skin with lots of slits and intakes, although the back end and side exhausts betray its roots.

The Force 1 gets the Viper’s 8.4 litre V10, but it’s been tweaked and fettled to deliver 745bhp – with the promise of 0-60mph in 3.0 seconds and 218mph – with a standard six-speed manual gearbox (or auto option) and active suspension.

Despite focussing on the Force 1’s power and performance, VFL has endowed the Force 1 with some rather odd titivations for a performance supercar, including a quilted leather interior, a built-in wine holder between the front seats, electric seats, Sat Nav and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

VLF are planning to start production of the Fore 1 in April at their Michigan facility, with just 50 cars planned, each costing from $268,500.

But with the extreme performance on offer, it seems unlikely the Force 1 will struggle to find buyers despite a price tag that would buy you a McLaren 650S.
