Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe revealed – it’s the ‘Lifestyle’ GLC 43

The Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe has been revealed ahead of a debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, with 362bhp 3.0 litre V6 Twin Turbo.

It used to be Audi which seemed to work harder than any other premium car maker to fill every niche – and then some – you could imagine.

But Mercedes is catching up fast, and this – the the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe – is a perfect example of a car filling a niche no one really thinks should exist, but does – the performance coupe SUV.

Featuring the space-robbing body from the Mercedes GLC Coupe and the powertrain from the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43, the GLC 43 Coupe promises to offer you less than the GLC 43 – but for more money. Still, just like the BMW X4 and X6, it’ll sell.

Frankly, there’s nothing much new to say about the GLC 43 Coupe we haven’t already said either about the GLC Coupe or the GLC 43, but we’ll reiterate anyway.

The GLC 43 Coupe gets Mercedes 4MATIC auto ‘box for four-wheel drive, with the 362bhp – and 382lb/ft of torque – delivering o-62mph in  4.9 seconds and official economy and emissions of 33.6mpg and 192g/km. The same as the GLC 43.

As with every other Mercedes AMG ’43’, there are the visual clues to its AMG-lite performance, with quad exhausts, an AMG body kit (which is less in yer face than the 63 is likely to be) and 19″ alloys. Inside has the AMG bits too, including aluminium trim and black leather.

Mercedes hasn’t yet revealed pricing for the AMG GLC 43, but the Coupe version of the GLC carries a premium of around £3k over the regular GLC, so it seems reasonable to assume that the Mercedes-AMG 43 Coupe will cost from around £51,000 when it goes on sale next month in the UK.
