Mercedes V-Class Marco Polo Camper Van
The Mercedes V-Class Marco Polo Camper Van, a properly posh Mercedes camper van, goes on sale in the UK priced from £53,180. First deliveries spring 2017.
If you think of a Camper Van at all, you probably think of the VW Camper Van from the 1960s, but things have moved on a bit since then.Talking Camper Vans, rather than Motor Homes, the current VW offering – the California Range – costs from a quite fulsome £40k, but does come with space for seven to travel and four to sleep (you can kick the other three out in to a tent).
And if you want to go a bit more upmarket than the VW California, you can now have a Mercedes Camper Van – the Mercedes V-Class Marco Polo – which will cost you from £53,180.
That £53,180 will get you a V 220 d Sport, with £55,320 buying you the AMG Line 220 d, £55,055 the V 250 d Sport and £57,195 the AMG Line version. Which seems quite a chunk of change, but the VW California Ocean starts at £50k, so perhaps not?
What your £53k plus gets you is a Mercedes van with a two-seater sofa with bed extension, yacht wood flooring, camping table, electric pop-up roof, swivelling front seats, leather and park assist.
Opt to pay more, and your £55k plus gets you the AMG Line version with AMG body kit (just what you need on a Camper Van), 19″ AMG alloys (ditto), Sport suspension (ditto again), AMG spoiler (and again) on the tailgate and metallic paint.
Spend a bit on options like COMAND (£1,795), and extra seat (£1,045), auxiliary heating (£1,345) or Driving Assistance Pack (£1,695) and your posh Mercedes Camper Van will have cost you more than £60k.
And there will still be nowhere to go to the loo.
