A Performance Pack upgrade is now available for the DSG equipped Volkswagen Golf R Hatch and Estate, and a Sports Exhaust for the Hatch only.
The new Volkswagen Golf R was revealed almost a year ago, and it now has a potent 306bhp on offer and is probably the most grown-up hot hatch you can buy. And the Golf R Estate is almost the perfect ‘Everything’ car on the market.
But a year on VW are injecting a bit more ‘Performance’ in to the Golf R and Golf R Estate with the arrival of the Performance Pack upgrade.
But the ‘Performance’ tag is a bit of a misnomer, as the Golf R doesn’t actually get any more power with the Performance Pack upgrade, although its limiter is removed so it can get to 166mph (or 168mph if you add it to the Golf R Estate).
What you also get is a new set of 19″ ‘Spielberg’ alloys and, if you opt for the Hatch, an extra rear spoiler lip too.
You also get a new set of silver ‘R Performance’ brake callipers which promise more feel for the driver (and save a bit of weight too) and less fade if you take your Golf on the track.
Also on offer is a new sports exhaust package for the hatch developed by Akropovic, with valve control technology promising a better exhaust note and which adjusts according to driving mode. It also comes with round tail pipes.
The Performance Pack upgrade for the Golf R costs £2,300 and is available only on cars fitted with the DSG gearbox. The Sports exhaust is just for the Hatch and costs £2,975.
