Saab 9-5 SportWagon arrives in the UK in the Autumn. Possibly
Saab reveals the 9-5 Sportwagon will arrive in the UK in the Autumn, together with trim and option revisions on the 9-5 saloon.
Is it just us, or does it strike you as a bit odd that Saab are sending us information on the 2012 Saab 9-5 revisions and on the yet-to-actually-launch Saab 9-5 SportWagon, when Saab doesn’t even know if it will survive beyond tomorrow?
True, it’s always best to be optimistic and plan for success not failure, but wouldn’t it have been pragmatic to wait until Uncle Tom Cobley and all have had their say on whether Saab can take the Chinese Shilling to survive.
Still, moans apart, what’s on offer?
The Saab 9-5 SportWagon will go on sale in September in the UK, with the entry point being The 9-5 2.0 TiD SE SportWagon at £28,195.
It’s looks a good car, the 9-5 SportWagon, and offers a sizable load space which Saab say is over 6′ long. That’s good for a huge 1600 litres with seats down and 527 litres when you’ve bods in the back. The boot also gets U-Rails for strapping your luggage to.
Top of the heap for the 9-5 SportWagon is the 2.8 V6 Turbo which comes in at a not insubstantial £39,195.
Changes to the Saab 9-5 range for 2012 – which will be on the 9-5 SportWagon from the off – include the chassis tweaking to make the 9-5 more able on UK roads, Drivesense and variable steering on the Aero model and revised chassis on the Vector SE.
Equipment gets a bit of a boost too with SatNav and DAB radio standard across the range and the Vector SE dash getting a brushed metal finish instead of the old shiny black. Aero models get a Mesh metal finish.
Options on offer include a rear view camera and adaptive Cruise.
All of which is rather dependant on Saab even being around by the time the 2012 Saabs are due to arrive.
