The 2018 Bentley Continental GT has been revealed ahead of a Frankfurt debut, with new platform, new technology and a design influenced by the EXP 10 Speed 6.
The Bentley Continental GT arrives in its third generation ahead of a debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, promising a more dynamic Grand Tourer than ever before, with more technology and a design influenced – certainly at the front – by the gorgeous Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 Concept.
Round the back is a new, more cohesive look, although the GT as a whole is still very familiar, despite the design changes, with the wheels moved forward at the front to create a longer wheelbase and better weight distribution.
Sitting on a heavily revised version of the MSB platform underpinning the Panamera. there’s new 48v electrics to run the active anti-roll bars which are part of Bentley’s new Dynamic Ride system, promising sport car handling and GT comfort.
Under the skin is Bentley’s latest 6.0 litre TSI W12 delivering 626bhp and 664lb/ft of torque, a new eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox, cylinder deactivation and part time four-wheel drive.
It all adds up to a GT which can be both comfortable and dynamic, and get to 62mph in just 3.7 seconds on its way to a 207mph top speed. In due course you can also expect a V8 version of the new Continental GT too.
Inside it’s new technology on show, with a revolving 12.3″ retina display front and centre offering a flush veneer look when switched off, a single revolve to display the infotainment and another to deliver a trio of analogue instruments.
There’s also new trim and upholstery options, with seemingly endless options designed to give buyers a very individual car – and empty their pockets.
The new Bentley Continental GT gets its public debut, but Bentley’s UK dealers are already taking orders, with first customer cars due in early 2018.
