Peugeot has released the Peugeot 308 CC THP 156 Auto
Peugeot has fitted a new engine and gearbox in the 308 CC to create the new Peugeot 308 CC THP 156 Auto, offering more power and performance.
A bit of a mouthful, we have to say, this new Peugeot 308 CC THP 156 auto. They may have to make the car wider to take all those letters on the boot. But Peugeot wants you to be in no doubt what’s on offer, so they’ve shoved it all in the name.
The first bit’s easy – it’s a Peugeot 308 CC (Coupe / Cabriolet). That’s the folding tin-top of the little 308. The rest is about the new engine and new gearbox. The engine in the outgoing 308 THP 140 is a but arthritic. It manages a paltry 140bhp and takes 12.4 seconds to get to 60mph.
But the new 1.6 litre turbo – together with a new six-speed AT6 auto ‘box – comes up with 156bhp and and cuts the 0-60mph to 9.8 seconds. It also manages to top out at 131mph – up 4mph.
But in these days of economy and emissions Peugeot wouldn’t be crowing about their new engine unless it performed on that front too. And it does. Combined economy comes out at 36.6mpg (old model 34.8mpg) and the emissions drop to 179g/km (old model 192g/km). So it’s back to our favourite combination – more for less.
And it’s also more for less on the VED front too, with the new 308 CC dropping a band and saving you £40 a year (that’s a deal maker, then). But you do have to cough up a bit more in the first place. The old 308 CC THP 140 auto came in at £22,895, but the new 156bhp version – which is now available in SE and GT trim – costs £23,595 for the SE and £25,795 for the GT.
A decent car, the 308 CC, made a lot more enjoyable with the new engine. And it’s on sale now so you can get your order in just in time for some Spring sunshine. We hope.

Finally Peugeot has ditched previous gargantuan mouthpiece with bumpers that looked like braces.. it’s still huge, but this mild update is better.
Once they overhaul the entire line I think they will apply corporate face of new 508 and alter it to suite 408-7/308/207/107 and even RCZ.

Why is the Peugeot 308cc automatic stiil quoting the old figures for acceleration, CO2 etc on their official site? I have tried speaking to Peugeot’s Customer Services to get clarification, but they haven’t got a clue about anything . Can anyone point out an official Peugeot data source confirming the new figures?
