Is that a 2012 BMW 3-Series? Or do my eyes deceive me?
BMW take their cars to Death Valley hot weather testing. And they take their video cameras. But have they accidentally shot the 2012 BMW 3 Series in the process?
Car makers go to extraordinary lengths to make sure their cars can perform everywhere, from the coldest places one earth to the hottest.
We’ve recently been almost bombarded with images of the Ferrari FF cold weather testing, as Ferrari go all out to prove the Shooting Brake Fezza is really Ferrari’s version of an RS6 Avant.
And now it seems BMW wants you to know that the average Beemer will plough on regardless, even when the sun is hot enough to melt the paint on your car.
So they took the video cameras with them when they went out playing in Death Valley – a regular run for BMW and most other car makers – to ram home the point that a BMW is not just for posing around town or blatting down a B-road, but could cross a desert if push came to shove.
Which is all very good and we’re all, of course, very grateful to BMW for being so conscientious with their testing and taking the trouble to show us what they put BMWs through to prove their mettle.
But have they let slip the 2012 BMW 3-Series in this video?
Or have we imagined it?

Stop the death valley testing and fix the electrical problems most BMW’s have.
Its 2011 how hard can it be to build cars without annoying electrical problems? Year after year you people don’t learn. My 2011 base model 3 series with only 3K miles on the clock has had 2 different electrical problems!
My boyfriend’s 2005 X5 spends more time at the dealer for electrical issues then in his garage. That is unacceptable. My BMW dealer/mechanic even told us “yeah, that’s the only problem with BMW’s”
