Vauxhall / Opel can’t sell to the U.S.

Vauxhall Insignia VXR Sports Tourer won't go on sale in the US

Vauxhall Insignia VXR Sports Tourer won't go on sale in the US

Now that GM has gone bankrupt and its European operation Vauxhall / Opel has been taken over by Magna, we are starting to see how things will work dropping in to place.

Probably the most significant thing so far is that Opel and Vauxhall will not be allowed to sell cars in the US, or indeed in to China. Which does cut out a lot of potential, if not exactly a lot of current, sales possibilities.

It makes sense for GM to have made this clause in the sale agreement, but it will hurt the new Magna owned group in the long run. The US is finally falling in love with better cars from outside the US, and Vauxhall/Opel has one of the best mainstream ranges there is. Cars like the new Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer would find a ready market in the US, as would the modern generation of Eco-cars, such as the Vauxhall Corsa ecoFLEX.

It is a surprise that Magna has agreed to this. We would have expected them to agree not to sell the Vauxhall or Opel version of the Ampera in the US when it finally gets produced, as that would tread straight on the toes of GM’s own version. But to exclude all the Vauxhall and Opel range indefinitely seems a big capitulation.

Apparently the China case is there because GM hopes it will be a big market for them in the future, but there is to be more discretion with that restriction.

I’m sure there will be a few petrol-heads in the US rueing this decision today.

I cant see any tank damage you’ve been charged for a new fuel tank and probably the fuel lines too as to be o the sage side all of the above will probably need changing your also being charge 485 for your own stupidity the reason I say this is all fuel pumps are colour coded for this very reason I’ve been driving diesel and petrol cars for over 30 years I’ve never miss fuelled a vehicle yet and if your carefull this wod apply to you aswell when refueling your vehicle concentrate on what your doing try not to get distracted as this is the reason most people miss fuel vehicles sorry to have to say but it boils down to a lock of concentration on your behalf you need to be more carefull when at the pump good look for you future service station visits and remember to always be carefull when filling up stay aware and check what it is your pumping

I recently rented a Vauxhall (Insignia?) in the UK. This was a diesel car and I accidentally pumped unleaded regular petrol into the fuel tank when it was half full of diesel. Thus, I had a 50/50 mixture of unleaded and diesel in the tank. I drove about 30 miles before realizing the mistake. I had the tank drained and filled with diesel and was on my way. I am being charged 485 pounds for “damage to the tank”. My question is, what damage to the tank could result in a charge of 485 pounds?

I you can’t answer this question, please provide a PHONE NUMBER that I can call. Please DO NOT refer me to a web address. Thank you.
