Volvo V60 Polestar production now underway

The new Volvo V60 Polestar – Volvo’s limited run of a Polestar enhanced V60 estate – has now got underway at the Torslanda Plant with the first V60s now heading for customers.

Last month Volvo revealed that the V60 Polestar would be a limited edition run of just 750 cars for the world, but that 125 of those will be heading for the UK – the largest market allocation of any country – and will cost £49,775.

And now, seven months after Volvo confirmed the V60 Polestar for production, the first cars are heading off the production line at Volvo’s plant in Torslanda and heading off to their new owners.

Although not as powerful as we’d expected, the V60 Polestar still offers an appealing performance package, with 345 bhp and 369lb/ft of torque delivering 0-62mph in an impressive 6.0 seconds.

But it’s not just the performance plus the V60 Polestar offers that appeals, but the very comprehensive spec.

Volvo has included every option in the price of the V60 Polestar, with the only (no cost) option being the colour – you can choose between  Rebel Blue, Black Sapphire Metallic, Bright Silver Metallic and Ice White – which makes the £50k price tag a lot more acceptable.

It was a truly proud moment to see the first Polestar blue cars on the production line together with the XC/V70, S80 and other models. The cooperation with Volvo works really well and we are looking forward to an exciting future together.

Let’s hope Volvo’s move to new smaller engines doesn’t put a spanner in the works for future Volvo Polestar models.
