New Jaguar XE launch – watch it LIVE on Cars UK (below)
The new Jaguar XE launch is finally upon us, and you can tune in to Cars UK live at 7.15pm UK time (2.15pm EDT) to see exactly what Jaguar’s take on the BMW 3 Series has to offer.
Despite tonight being the official reveal, we already know quite a bit about the new XE.Underpinning the new XE will be Jaguar’s new aluminium iQ Al platform – which will also underpin the Jaguar SUV when that arrives – promising less weight than the 3 Series and better economy thanks to its lower weight.
Economy will also be helped by the new range of efficient Ingenium engines (which the XE looks set to get from launch – unlike the new Discovery Sport) which are said to offer sub-100g/km in their most efficient guise in the XE.
The XE’s suspension is derived from the F-Type with integral link rear suspension to soak up bumps and cast aluminium to reduce weight. There’s also a n ‘All Surface Progress’ mode that takes over the getaway on slippery surfaces (snow, ice, gravel etc) for much better traction.
Inside we will, finally, see a new Infotainment with Apps control, lots of driver assist technology and an exterior design clearly influence by the XF but taking Jaguar’s design forward.
We’ll update with full details of the new XE once the reval has taken place tonight. A reveal you’ll be able to watch below.
