Range Rover Sport SVR to get F-Type SVR’s 567bhp V8

The Range Rover Sport SVR – Land Rover’s post potent RRS – looks set to get even more powerful as Land Rover give it the 567bhp from the F-Type SVR.

It’s only eighteen months since the Range Rover Sport SVR arrived as the most potent RRS ever produced, but it looks like Land Rover are already working to give it more power.

According to Autocar, Land Rover are planning to give the Sport some tweaks for 2017, and they include endowing the Sport SVR with even more power, courtesy of the latest 5.0 litre supercharged engine from the new F-Type SVR.

That will mean power rising to 567bhp in the Range Rover Sport, which should be enough to cut its current 0-60mph of 4.5 seconds by a tenth or two, and give the Sport SVR some ammunition to battle the latest raft of super performance SUVs.

The RRS still won’t be able to compete with the outright power of the Bentley Bentayga, and nor is it likely to be quicker than the less powerful Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, but it will give the SVR a bit more performance to at least keep in touch with not just the Bentayga and Cayenne, but the upcoming Lamborghini Urus too.

But of course, the Range Rover Sport SVR – despite its power and on-road focus – will still be able to run rings round the competition off-road – not that owners are likely to exploit that ability very often (if ever).
