The Jaguar F-Type SVR has been given a public debut at the New York Motor Show, with Jaguar blasting the F-Type through the Park Avenue Tunnel.
Jaguar likes to make a bit of a spectacle when it launches a new car, so the new Jaguar F-Type SVR made its public debut in New York by blasting through a closed-off Park Avenue tunnel – just for the thrill of the soundtrack. The soundtrack the SVR F-Type delivers is a properly spine tingling one, and the Park Avenue Tunnel – closed off to let the Jag play – let its soundtrack reverberate as the 200mph F-Type blasted through the more than a quarter mile tunnel.
Jaguar also used a custom technology to let series of specially installed lights respond to the sound from the titanium and inconel exhaust system, changing from white to ‘Jaguar Red’ as the F-Type accelerated through the tunnel.
It was a suitably impressive New York debut for the quickest series production car Jaguar has ever made, with its 567bhp 5.0 litre supercharged engine delivering 0-62mph in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 200mph.
Now on sale at Jaguar’s UK dealers, the F-Type SVR Coupe costs from £110,000, and the convertible from £115,485.
