The VW Golf GTI Clubsport Edition 40 – a re-badged GTI Clubsport – launches in the UK to celebrate 40 years of the Golf. Price from £30,875.
The Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport arrived at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year as a celebration of 40 years of VW Golf production, and now it’s going on sale in the UK as the Golf GTI Clubsport Edition 40, with just 1,000 units available and costing from £30,875.The Clubsport Edition 40 is the most hardcore GTI so far, and comes with a more aggressive body kit with new front bumper, side sills and rear diffuser, a tailgate spoiler and a set of 18″ alloys.
You can also spec your special Golf with an optional black painted roof and a choice of Pure White, Tornado Red, Oryx White mother of pearl effect; Reflex Silver, Carbon Grey Metallic, Urano Grey or Deep Black pearl paint jobs.
Interior titivations include Alcantara and cloth sports seats with contrast red stitching, a ‘golf ball’ gear knob, Alcantara steering wheel, stainless steel sill plates and custom floor mats.
Power comes from the usual GTI 2.0 litre turbo four-cylinder petrol engine, but in the Clubsport Edition 40 it gets boosted to 261bhp with an additional boost to 286bhp for up to 10 seconds if you floor the throttle.
Starting price for the manual three-door Clubsport Edition 40 is £30,875, with the DSG gearbox adding a hefty £1,415 and the five-door costing an additional £655, making the most expensive Clubsport Edition 40 the five-door with DSG at £32,945.
The VW Golf GTI Clubsport Edition 40 is now on sale at VW’s UK dealers, with first customer cars due in the summer.
