Ford GT Supercar configurator LIVE

The Ford GT Supercar now has its own online configurator as order books open for the first 500 cars. But you probably can’t buy one.
It’s more than a year since the new Ford GT supercar was revealed at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show, and it’s finally going on sale and there’s an online configurator so you can spec up your Ford GT just as you would like. The trouble is, although you can play with Ford’s configurator, the chances of actually getting you hands on a car that doesn’t have an official price, or an official power and performance, is pretty much zero.
Ford is so keen to make sure the GT doesn’t end up locked away in a collection – or snapped up by speculators – that it’s taking a leaf out of the book of Italian Supercar makers and vetting all the applications to buy the GT.
That means that unless you’re considered a valuable brand ambassador, a high-profile petrolhead who’ll get the GT out and about or the owner of a business that buys big Ford fleets, you have no chance. Although if you have owned the last GT, and still do, Ford will probably smile on your application to buy too.
But with just 500 GTs being made available – and that’s two year’s production – you could well be disappointed even if you fit Ford’s buyer criteria.
For the rest of us, there’s the new Ford GT Configurator to play with, where you select one of eight colours, one of seven stripe colours (if you want stripes), a couple of wheel options, a couple of interior options, launch control and more.
But you won’t know how much your specced up GT will cost (we’re expecting from £250k up), nor how powerful it is (over 600bhp, but no specifics).
Still, playing with a configurator is always a good way to waste time.
