2017 Mercedes-AMG E 63 S 4MATIC+ arrives
The 2017 Mercedes AMG E63 has been revealed in regular and ‘S’ guise, with up to 604bhp from its 4.0 litre twin turbo V8. Debuts at the LA Motor Show.
The latest 2017 Mercedes-AMG E 63 and E 63 S have arrived ahead of their debut at the Los Angeles Motor Show, boasting supercar performance in a substantial saloon, with the range-=topping E63 S delivering 604bhp, 4WD and a 0-62mph time of just 3.4 seconds. All that comes courtesy of the standard Mercedes 4MATIC four-wheel drive and a 4.0 litre V8 which delivers a mighty 604bhp and 626lb/ft of torque in the S, but even the regular E63 has 563bhp and 553lb/ft of torque and a 0-62mph of 3.5 seconds. Both get Mercedes’ dual-clutch nine-speed automatic gearbox.
That rapid 0-62mph sprint in either model is partly due to the jump in power over the old 5.5 litre V8, but also down to the new E63 planting its power more reliably thanks to the switch to 4WD.
In terms of design, the new E63 is, if anything, more lairy than the last model, with big flared wheel arches, big alloys, AMG body kit and scalloped bonnet, with carbon fibre trim abounding inside together with leather, Alcantara and mood lighting.
Both the E63 and E63 S will go on sale at Mercedes’ UK dealers in January 2017, with first customer cars expected by early summer.
Expect the new E63 and E63 S to arrive as an estate too by early next year.
