Mercedes-AMG G65 4×4² Landaulet teased for a Geneva Motor SHow debut
A Mercedes-AMG G65 4×4² Landaulet is set to be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show as Mercedes aim to extract big money from a pretentious few.
The Mercedes G Wagon has been around almost as long as the motor car, and in that time has garnered status as an all time great. But actually, it’s a car well past its time. But as long as people are daft enough to buy a G-Wagon – and pay through the nose for it – Mercedes were going to oblige.
However, there are limits beyond which, even at astronomical prices, it becomes impossible to keep an old car with a chassis made of rock and airbags made from papyrus able to conform to modern safety stuff, so Mercedes is soon to replace the G Wagon.
But before that they’re planning to cash in with the Mercedes-AMG G65 4×4² Landaulet.
Due to debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month, the G65 4×4² Landaulet will get a retracting pram roof for the back end and come endowed with Mercedes’ latest twin turbo V12.
That means the dinosaur on wheels, complete with Silver Cross roof, will get in the region of 620bhp and 740lb/ft of torque which will be enough to get even something as old and as heavy as the G-Wagon to 62 mph in no more than 5 seconds.
How much Mercedes will want for their Frankenstein creation we don’t yet know, but don’t be surprised at any number up to £500k.
