2018 Renault Sport Megane will have four-wheel steering and 2 chassis options
The 2018 Renault Sport Megane – due to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show – will come with Renault’s 4CONTROL four-wheel steering and two chassis options.
Renault has been busy building up anticipation for the new Mégane Renault Sport ahead of its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September as the new hot Megane looks to tackle cars like the new Honda Civic Type R.
Last month we saw Renault roll out the new Sport Megane at Monaco – albeit with camouflage still evident – and stick Renault F1 driver Nico Hülkenberg behind the wheel for a bit of posing at the Grand Prix weekend.
Sadly, Renault didn’t divvy up much in the way of details in Monaco, but they have decided to tempt a bit more with some news of the Megane’s setup.
To no one’s great surprise, the new Renault Sport Megane will come with the option of two chassis, with a standard Sport Chassis suitable for road use if that’s what you want, and a harder Cup Chassis which works better on track but will need a season ticket to the Chiropractor.
But what Renault has also revealed is that the new Megane will come with 4CONTROL four wheel steering for better agility, better cornering and more precision. It’s also, say Renault, the first time a hot hatch has been delivered with four wheel steering.
Beyond that we’re still limited to knowledge from the rumour mill, but around 300bhp from either a new 2.0 litre turbo or the Alpine A110’s 1.8 litre turbo seem certain, as does front-wheel drive rather than 4WD.
Doubtless, between now and the all-new Mégane Renault Sport’s Frankfurt debut, we’ll get official confirmation.
