Nissan Energy SOLAR goes on sale in the UK
Nissan Energy Solar, Nissan’s battery storage system for solar power, goes on sale in the UK with a range of power options and costing from £3,881.
A few months ago we revealed that Nissan was joining the home power storage game in the UK with the Nissan Energy SOLAR storage system – just like Tesla’s Powerwall and Mercedes’ Energy – to manage and store solar power in UK homes. And it’s now on sale.Nissan call their setup a “complete system for home energy generation”, and although it’s a chunk smaller in capacity than the Mercedes and Tesla offerings it’s a chunk less expensive too (from £3,881), and Nissan reckon it could save households up to 66 per cent on their energy bills.
Essentially the system combines solar panels and a battery to store the energy they create, so instead of having to use the solar power as it’s generated – or put it back in to the grid – you can store it and use that power when it’s convenient to power your house or charge your car (a Nissan Leaf, presumably).
The battery bit of the Nissan Energy Solar – which Nissan call xStorage – can be bought in 4.2kWh or 6kWh versions, comes with a five year (4.2kWh) or 10 year (6kWh) warranty and you can even opt to buy a re-purposed LEAF battery too to do your bit for the environment.
If the idea of creating and storing your own electricity at home floats your boat, jump over to Nissan’s Energy Storage page for more details or a quote.
