Ferrari SP38
The Ferrari Sp38 is revealed a bespoke commission from Ferraris’ One-Off Programme, based on the Ferrari 488 and heading for Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.
If your pockets are very very deep, and you’re a loyal and liked Ferrari customer, you can get Ferrari to build you whatever it is you want, using whatever influences float your boat. That’s why we see cars like Eric Clapton’s Ferrari SP12 EC, a regular 458 but with lots of influence from the BB 512, slow hand’s favourite Ferrari of all time.
Now we get a new one-off from Ferrari’s programme designed to deliver just that for another special customer, with the reveal of the Ferrari SP38, again based on the 488 (we’ve moved on since Eric’s car) and influenced by this buyer’s love of the Ferrari F40.
The completely new body on the 488 includes a fixed rear wing like the F40, only lower to make it more aerodynamic, a solid engine cover with three slates and, below the fixed wing, there’s round tail lights too. There’s even a slim bumper lip to nod at the 308 too.
Inside, Ferrari say the SP38 gets a Tailor Made upgrade – which is the least you’d expect – but Ferrari hasn’t released any photos.
