Honda Urban EV on sale THIS year
The Honda Urban EV, Honda’s cute little electric car, will be at the Geneva Motor Show in March in prototype guise, and be on sale this year.
Earlier this month we revealed that the Honda Urban EV will be at the Geneva Motor Show as it moves on from the very appealing Concept car we saw in 2017 to a production-ready model.Honda has now caught up with that car news and has officially confirmed that the Urban EV (or whatever production name it gets) will indeed be at Geneva, but they’re calling the car they will be showing a ‘Prototype’.
In the process of telling us the news, Honda has delivered an image of the new prototype (above) which makes clear Honda are sticking pretty close to the concept’s styling. Thankfully.
Honda are still being tight-lipped about what’s under the appealing retro body of the Urban EV, but they do say it will “focus on functionality and purpose…through its clean, simple and unique design”. Sounds good.
And as Honda moves towards its goal of two thirds of European car sales being electrified by 2025, it will sit on a new scalable platform which will underpin not just the Urban EV but more electric Hondas too, perhaps like the Honda Sports EV.
But prototype or not at Geneva, the Honda Urban EV will go on sale this year.
