Kia TEASES new electric car concept for Geneva
Kia is teasing a new electric car concept for the Geneva Motor Show, which looks to be a sporty coupe with almost Muscle Car design.
Kia has already dipped its toe in the electric car waters with the very able Kia e-Niro, but now it’s getting ready to reveal a concept electric car which looks to be more about performance and looks than practicality and efficiency. The first look at the new Kia Electric Car Concept (above) is the usual shadowy image we expect for every new car tease these days, but what little we can see does make it clear this new concept is quite a way removed from the e-Niro.
The single front view image does look to show a low, wide coupe EV with bulging wheel arches and long bonnet (do we want a long bonnet on an EV?), cameras instead of door mirrors and a big light signature across the front of the car.
Gregory Guillaume, Kia’s European Design VP, said:
Automotive design is about capturing the heart and making it beat that bit faster for that bit longer – and we believe that there’s absolutely no reason why that should change simply because the car is electric.
That’s why our all-electric concept is designed to not only get your pulse racing, but to also signpost our holistic and emotional approach to electrification.
All that would suggest that this Kia EV Concept will be about performance rather than frugality, but we’ll have to wait a bit to find out exactly what’s on offer.
