Volkswagen ID Buggy Concept
The Volkswagen ID Buggy Concept has been revealed at the Geneva Motor Show, a 21st century electric interpretation of the iconic VW Beach Buggy.
It’s not too much of a stretch of the imagination to think that all cars are rolling down the electric route to a future where cars are going to be just transport, offering little in the way of fun or individuality. But VW want to dissuade you from that notion.Step forward the VW ID Buggy Concept revealed today at the Geneva motor Show – which aims to show the world that EVs lend themselves to fun and frivolity as much as ‘green’ and practical.
Built on the same VW MEB Platform as the rest of VW’s ID range of soon-to-arrive electric cars (and the new Audi Q4 e-tron), complete with a 62kWh battery pack powering a 200bhp motor on the back wheels, good for a 0-62mph (although not necessarily on sand) in 7.2 seconds.
The body is made of plastic, aluminium and steel, the interior is weatherproof with a couple of seats (it can be a 2+2 if needed), a strengthened windscreen and Targa bar in case you get it wrong drifting on dunes, and a set of 18″ alloys with BF Goodrich All Terrain tyres.
Will the Volkswagen ID Buggy make it in to production? Stranger things have happened.
