Electric Honda E reservations now open in the UK
The electric Honda E, the car we knew as the Urban EV, is now open officially open for reservations in the UK ahead of orders later in the year.
We learnt earlier this month that the appealing Honda Urban EV will be the Honda E when it officially goes on sale. But that’s not quite yet.Instead, Honda are joining the long, drawn-out order process which seems to be infecting the car industry.
Until now, Honda has been happy to receive ‘Expressions of Interest’ in the Honda E – and it’s had 25,000 of those across Europe – but now it’s going one step further by opening ‘Reservations’.
Honda has opened a dedicated Honda E reservation website where you’ll be able to put down an £800 deposit to get a ‘priority’ place in the queue to order a Honda E.
But you’re not actually placing an order for the Honda E, you understand, you’re just in the queue to order one. The Honda E won’t officially go on sale until later in the year.
Unfortunately, beyond the still cute retro looks despite some toning down from the Urban EV, buyers still don’t really know what they’ll be getting, or how much it will cost.
That said, it’s reasonable to expect something around 100bhp from a single elctric motor and a range designed to be enough for blatting round urban landscapes, but a bit irritating if you want to venture further. Think around 130 miles.
As for price, Honda seem intent on making the Honda E a ‘premium’ offering, so it won’t be barking up the budget tree. Think circa £30k.
