Chery’s iCAUR V27 Land Rover Defender lookalike is heading for the UK and is expected to come with a 450bhp range-extender powertrain.
Chinese motoring giant Chery is already making serious inroads into the UK market with its Jaecoo and Omoda brands, but that’s just the start of Chery’s ambitions. As well as the Jaecoo and Omoda brands, the Chery Tiggo has arrived in the UK too; the new Freelander brand (a collaboration with JLR) is heading to the UK with the Freelander 8, and now we learn that its iCAUR brand (iCar in China) will launch in the UK next year with the iCAUR V27.
We’ve already reported the arrival of the iCAUR V27 ahead of its debut in Dubai in summer 2025 as an upmarket 4×4 which looks remarkably similar to the Land Rover Defender, but at the time we didn’t know if it would come to the UK. But now Chery says it will, and it will arrive in early 2027.
Assuming the V27 for the UK gets the same powertrain as other markets, it will mean a range-extender with a 1.5-litre petrol engine charging a battery 33kWh which then powers a front and rear motor for a total output of 450bhp.
Prices for the V27 are expected to start at around £45k when it goes on sale in the UK in early 2027.
