Hyundai IONIQ is SUPREME 2017 Women’s Car of the Year
The Hyundai Ioniq – in hybrid, plug-in and BEV guise – has won the 2017 Women’s Car of the Year Award Supreme accolade, and its Green award too.
The Hyundai Ioniq boasts it’s the only production car available with a hybrid, plug-in hybrid and BEV powertrain option, and it’s a very good car.We were out playing with the Ioniq Hybrid earlier this year, and we found it to be a great balance of normality and ‘Green’, managing to offer a properly appealing combination in the process.
And it would seem the Women’s World Car of the Year jury feels much the same, as it’s voted the Ioniq – whether in BEV, hybrid or plug-in guise – its Supreme car of 2017. Or ‘Car of the Year’ if you prefer a less extreme superlative.
Sandy Myhre, WWCOTY CEO, said:
The car that wins the supreme award has gone through a rigorous test by 25 judges from 20 different countries who are on the panel of Women’s World Car of the Year.
It’s a democratic process and cars that have won categories and the supreme winner really have to stand out.
The Ioniq also won the WWCOTY’s Green Award too, and the panel said the Ioniq was the clear winner in the Green and Supreme categories, beating off competition in the Green category from the Prius plug-in and Kia Niro.
Other winners included the Ford Fiesta for Budget Car, Peugeot 3008 for SUV, 5 Series for Luxury, Civic Type R for Performance and McLaren 720S for the Dream Car category.
