The new Koenigsegg Regera has been officially revealed as a luxury Koenigsegg with total power of up to 1775bhp and 1585lb/ft of torque. Just 80 being built.

We knew the Koenigsegg Regera was going to be something special, but even by Koenigsegg standards its power is immense, with a Koenigsegg V8 churning out 1085bhp and 921lb/ft of torque alongside an additional 690bhp and 663lb/ft of torque from electric power. Astonishing.

Koenigsegg say the Regera is a luxury Megacar alternative to its usual track cars for the road, and offers a never before seen combination of power, responsiveness and luxury, Despite a focus on a more luxurious take, Koenigsegg say the only other car that could touch the Regera on track is another Koenigsegg.

The luxury side of the Regera includes a 9″ Infotainment system, 3G and Wi-fi, recording cameras all round, Apple CarPlay, parking sensors, LED running lights with ‘Constellation’ LEDs, and a beautiful leather-clad interior.

The exterior design is also more luxury and less hardcore than cars like the Agera, with a rounder front end with big air intakes, big roof scoop, front diffuser, a rear diffuser that sits below the Regera’s hidden charging point, active rear spoiler, 19″/20″ alloys, ceramic brakes and a big exhaust. It’s a grown-up take on Koenigsegg design.

But the real action happens under the skin, with the combination of the Koenigsegg V8 and three electric motors making the Regera the most powerful production car in existence.

Christian von Koenigsegg isn’t a fan of normal hybrids, but the newly developed Koenigsegg Direct Drive Transmission (KDD) replaces the normal transmission to create direct drive to the back axle without gears or variable transmissions, meaning a reduction in drivetrain losses, and the two electric motors on the back axle also offer direct drive with the third motor on the crankshaft offering torque-fill, electrical regeneration and starter motor functionality.

It’s a very clever setup, with the complete KDD system – including the batteries – adding just 88kg, despite the 690bhp the electric motors have.

It all adds up to extreme performance – 3.2 seconds from 62mph to 155mph in 3.2 seconds and 0-250mph in just 20 seconds – with more comfort and luxury than we’ve ever seen in a Koenigsegg before.

The Koenigsegg Regera will be a run of 80 cars.
