The rumoured Lotus Evora facelift turns out to be a Mansory Lotus Evora with a new nose and lots of carbon fibre trim and is “…a taste of the future of Lotus product customisation.”
The Interwebs have had a little buzz these last few days about a facelift for the Lotus Evora. It seems the rumourmill was convinced that Lotus were about to make the Evora a bit sharper looking so it better fitted the aspirations of Dany Bahar to make Lotus the East Anglian Aston Martin.
But we weren’t too sure. We thought it unlikely that Lotus would go down the facelift route so quickly, although we did buy that Lotus were going to work on upgrading the interior of the Evora. so we looked for another explanation for the rumours.
It turns out that the ‘Facelifted Evora’ – the car you see in the photo above – is actually a Lotus Evora by Mansory. A Lotus Evora by Mansory that Lotus are very happy to shout about and which will be at Geneva next month. But NOT a facelifted Evora. But it is an Evora – according to Lotus – which is “…a taste of the future of Lotus product customisation.”
The Mansory Evora appears to get a carbon-fibre makeover on the side vents, side skirts, diffuser and spoiler. And everything from the bonnet and boot upwards. There’s also a new, more aggressive bumper with larger air intakes at the front – no doubt the cause of the facelift rumours.
This could be the start of a semi-official tie-up between Lotus and Mansory. We’ll see.
