The new McLaren Grand Tourer is back for another tease as McLaren reveal more of what they promise will be the ultimate Grand Tourer when it’s revealed in May.
It’s only four weeks since McLaren sent us their own ‘Spy’ photos of what they describe as “The McLaren of Grand Tourers”, promising a proper McLaren GT that would eat continents for breakfast whilst cossetting you in luxury and stunning you with performance.
Now it’s round two of the tease for the McLaren GT, this time with a look at the front of the car, but not a great deal of detail to whet appetites.
McLaren tell us the Grand Tourer is sleek and boldly elegant, and it’s now on the closing stages of its development, having already done hot and cold weather testing across the globe, including the 1,000 mile trip from McLaren’s development base in Barcelona back to Woking, a typical continental trip many of us have done before, and typical of what a GT should be able to devour with aplomb.
McLaren say such a trip in a GT should be able to be done in one stint (ignoring petrol stops), with tow occupants and a full set of luggage. Which puts paid to the notion McLaren may somehow squeeze two back seats in or deliver a three-seat GT.
We still have no idea what the McLaren V8 in the GT will deliver in terms of power and performance – save for McLaren insisting it will share its DNA with the Speedtail – but with a reveal due next month we should find out soon.
