Mercedes X-Class Element Edition
The Mercedes X-Class Pick-up gets a limited edition model – the ELEMENT Edition X 250d 4MATIC – with added gloss to boost sales.
The Mercedes X-Class pick-up officially arrived in the UK at the end of 2017 in the UK as Mercedes moved to grab a piece of the lucrative market for pick-ups.But it wasn’t a bespoke Mercedes creation, instead it was effectively a Nissan Navara with layers of Mercedes gloss. But under the skin you were still driving a Nissan.
Pick-up owners who buy a pick-up to do a job – rather than ‘game’ the BIK system – tend to look on Mercedes X-Class drivers as badge suckers, and even a VW boss thinks the same.
But that’s not stopping Mercedes making sales to the badge snobs, and now along comes a Limited Edition X-Class – the ELEMENT Edition X 250d 4MATIC – to try and tempt badge buyers to empty their bank accounts.
Based on the X-Class Progressive spec, the Element Edition gets painted bumpers and (fake) under-guard elements in matte black, chrome handles, matte silver grille and aluminium door sills.
Buyers also get the Comfort Pack with (fake) leather, 19″ alloys, Style Pack (LED lights, running boards and roof rails), Sports Bar, and a choice of Chisana White solid paint, or Diamond Silver and Kabara Black metallic paints.
If you feel an overwhelming desire to spend much more than you need to for a Nissan Navara, then you’ll need to head off to a Mercedes Van dealer to grab one of the ELEMENT Edition X 250d 4MATIC units.
