The Mitsubishi eX Concept is a new compact SUV crossover from Mitsubishi, heading for the Tokyo Motor Show, and previewing future design and electric powertrain.
With the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show looming later this month, the Japanese car makers are starting to preview their offerings for their home show. And today we have the Mitsubishi eX Concept, a compact SUV Crossover from Mitsubishi which previews not just a future compact crossover design from Mitsubishi (perhaps the next ASX?), but also a new, all electric, four-wheel-drive powertrain. The eX Concept looks to be an evolution of the XR-PHEV II Concept we saw at Geneva earlier this year, with tweaks to the design but the same high waistline and small greenhouse.
Mitsubishi say:
Overall, it evokes the image of a sporty crossover zipping nimbly around town as it merges the elegance and stylishness of a “shooting brake” with compact SUV lines. The front end is a new interpretation of the Dynamic Shield front design concept.
But where the XR-PHEV II Concept had a plug-in hybrid platform, the eX Concept goes completely electric – although Mitsubishi seem unwilling to go in to details – but they do say it’s a next generation EV system with permanent four-wheel-drive.
No doubt we’ll learn exactly what Mitsubishi’s electric powertrain can do when the eX Concept debuts later this month.
