Morgan Aero GT TEASED
The Morgan Aero GT is teased ahead of a debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, and it’s a track-inspired run-out model of just eight units.
The Morgan Aero 8 arrived two years ago as Morgan cut the Supersports and dropped the price of its classic-inspired car by around £50k. And now it’s about to go out of production.
But to say farewell to the cross-eyed classic, Morgan is delivering a more extreme take on the Aero 8 with this, the Aero GT.
It’s a car Morgan confess they created during the development of the Aero 8, but it never saw the light of day. But now it will – although just eight units will be available – as the final cars in the Aero run.
Each car gets a new hand-worked body, aerodynamically honed and with new wing louvres, big side impressions and a big rear diffuser.
Under the bonnet lies the same naturally aspirated BMW V8 as the Aero 8 gets, with 376bhp and decent performance of 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds. The GT is also the swansong for the BMW lump.
Jon Wells, Morgan’s Head of Design, said:
Unlike many, we are able to make truly special limited edition vehicles that really exercise the imagination of the designer and the ability of the craftsman.
The Aero range has always offered Morgan the platform to explore the boundaries of mechanical and styling design and I am delighted the family has allowed one of our wildest ideas to become a reality.
Morgan says they’ve already flogged all eight units, and that each will be tailored for the customer, including customer requested customisations.
With all the cars sold, Morgan don’t feel the need to reveal how much each of the Aero GTs costs, but it’ll be a chunk over £100k.
